Q: What type of graphics program should I use with MakeCDROM?

A: We recommend Paint Shop Pro by Jasc.


Q: How do I save an image at a certain resolution?

A: Using Paint Shop Pro, go to Image | Canvas Size and enter in the width and height.


Q: What is a HotSpot?

A: It is an area on the background image where the rollover image is placed.  Once you define a HotSpot, and can define what gets launched when a user clicks on it.


Q: How do I nest menus? (for version 4.0)

A: You need to make 2 projects.  One is the "main" menu and the other is the "child" menu. So after you create both projects, edit the "main" menu (lets say that is hotspot 1) and for the "application" enter in "autorun.exe" After you save, go into file explorer, and copy ALL files from the "child" menu staging folder, and copy it to the "1" (since its hotspot 1) folder in the "main" menu's staging folder.
 

 

 
Q: How do I make the autorun look like a splash screen?

A: Just make sure the CD Title field is blank.


Q: Does the background image have to be 640x480?

A: NO. It can be ANY size but we do NOT recommend anything larger than 640x480.


Q: Does MakeCDROM support animated GIFs?

A: Yes!


Q: How do I nest menus? (for version 4.2)

A: You need to make 2 projects.  One is the "main" menu and the other is the "child" menu. So after you create both projects, edit the "main" menu (lets say that is hotspot 1) and for the "application" browse to the child's staging folder and select the "autorun.exe" file, and check the checkbox "All Nested files".
 

Q: How do I use "browse cdrom" and have it default to a certain folder?

A: Just select the Action "Explore CD" and in the parameter field, enter the folder name. like "\wavs". NOTE: this parameter must exist in the staging folder.


Q: How do I launch an action as soon as I run the autorun.exe file?

A: Just make sure the HotSpot Name you use starts with an exclamation point.  You will not need to input an image name or coordinates since no image is associated with it.
